Work placement opportunity leads to college collaboration

Wellside Foods, based in West Felton, Shropshire, have been working with Herefordshire, Ludlow and North Shropshire College to provide work placement opportunities for their students.

Over the last 12 months, the company was able to offer a placement to I.T. student Ryan Jones, from Ellesmere. Ryan has been working on a day release work placement basis with Riverside, whilst studying for his Level 3 I.T. Computing Qualification and he will be starting his Computer Programming Degree course at Liverpool University in late September.

Leigh Morris, Managing Director of Wellside Foods said, “Ryan has been a great asset to the company, generating fresh graphic design concepts for point of sale material and even some Social Media postings. We have been very pleased with his work and are delighted to have been in the position to offer a local student, from a local college, the work placement experience whilst attending a full time Level 3 course in Computing at Oswestry. We would like to thank Shon Prebble, Curriculum Team Manager and Lucy Edwards, Tutor for their support to both Ryan and Riverside Foods”.

Leigh added, “We wish Ryan all the very best for the future and wish him every success in completing his Programming Degree. We also look forward to working with Herefordshire, Ludlow and North Shropshire College again with a view to offering another Student a work placement in September 2019’.
